Florida Pro-Bitcoin Mayor May Run for a White House Seat

  1. Miami Mayor Francis Suarez may be considering running for President.
  2. Suarez is one of the few mayors who are getting their paycheck in bitcoins.
  3. Many pro-Bitcoin presidentiables are running, including DeSantis and Kennedy Jr.

Miami Mayor Francis Suarez, one of the few politicians in the US who receive their paychecks in bitcoins (BTC), revealed that he is still considering the possibility of running for a White House position.

In fact, according to an interview with Politico, he is mulling over the odds of competing with the likes of Donald Trump and Joe Biden for the Presidential seat. He posted the interview at Twitter, which garnered the attention of the crypto space given his popularity as a Bitcoin supporter.

Some well-known personalities such as Binance CEO Changpeng Zhao expressed his support for Suarez.

The crypto space has no lack of advocates in the upcoming election, however. Robert Kennedy Jr., nephew of former president John F. Kennedy, is currently the frontrunner among Bitcoin-supporting presidentiables.

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis is also considering running for the same position. It should be noted that DeSantis is strongly against the creation of a US dollar-based central bank digital currency (CBDC), citing censorship as a reason. Many crypto fans also favor DeSantis as the governor has many times expressed his appreciation of crypto.

Both DeSantis and Suarez are aiming to become the primary bet of the Republican party, although their toughest competition remains to be Donald Trump. Meanwhile, Kennedy Jr. is running as an Independent, at least for the time being.
