While NFT gaming hit Axie Infinity is continuing its market dominance, an array of GameFi projects are starting to contest its position.
Upcoming GameFi platforms include Untamed Isles, Star Atlas, and Illuvium.
Untamed Isles is a monster hunting and taming, turn-based massively multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG). The game chose imaginary islands that popped out of nowhere as the setting. According to its website, the game will have an open early access this December 2021.
As the name suggests, Star Atlas is more like a space exploration MMORPG in which players can choose among three factions. This game builds on the Solana blockchain, and has at least two tokens: ATLAS and POLIS. While the game marketplace is live, the game itself will take until 2022 before it launches.
Meanwhile, Illuvium is a free-to-play game that still has GameFi mechanics like wagers. It is like an autochess game, unlike the first two games mentioned. Illuvium token is already being traded on major exchanges like Binance. However, the launch date of Illuvium is also in 2022.
In another news, the season 19 tournament of Axie Infinity has already started, in which $400,000 worth of AXS are up for grabs.
