- Uniswap Labs has recently partnered with professional esports brand Team Secret.
- Through the partnership, Team Secret will develop exclusive content on the Uniswap protocol.
- The team is also considering to use cryptocurrency as part of its company’s balance sheet.
Decentralized exchange Uniswap has partnered with Team Secret, a professional esports team. According to an official announcement by the team, this will become a long-term collaboration.
This marks the first time that a decentralized finance (DeFi) protocol has extended its reach into the esports industry. Through the partnership, Uniswap will enable Team Secret to develop exclusive content and other esports activations on the former’s protocol. For Uniswap, this partnership represents its expansion into the esports scene.
Matteo Leibowitz, Strategy Lead at Uniswap Labs, said that they partnered with the team for common interests. Specifically, they share “a global presence, a digitally-native audience, and a passionate dedication to their respective crafts”.
Leibowitz added,
“Both parties are radically set on changing the way we think about their respective industries — sports and finance. Indeed, while this is a first-of-its-kind partnership between an eSports team and a Decentralized Autonomous Organization, we expect it will not be the last.”
Meanwhile, Team Secret CEO John Yao said that they are already considering to use cryptocurrency themselves.
Yao said,
“We are even exploring crypto as a company balance sheet asset as we ourselves get more educated through this partnership.”
In another news, Uniswap’s very own crypto token maintained its strong performance despite people allegedly claiming that the market is already in bear territory. Uniswap token holds the 10th position both on CoinMarketCap and CoinGecko. At the time of writing, UNI price is at $26.64.
