On June 22, Mark Cuban’s Gmail account fell victim to a cleverly orchestrated attack. The assailant, posing as a Google representative, made a fraudulent call to Cuban. The caller, who went by the name “Noah,” spun a web of deception, manipulating Google’s recovery methods to gain unauthorized access. The result? Cuban’s inbox was no longer his.

Cuban wasted no time alerting his 8.8 million followers on social media. He stated that any email from mcuban@gmail.com after 3:30 pm PST is not his. His proactive approach garnered support from the crypto community. However, some speculated about the avalanche of unread emails piling up during his Gmail blackout.

Not the First Crypto Theft Incident

This isn’t Cuban’s first brush with digital misfortune. In November 2023, his crypto wallet, containing different coins, was stolen. However, he managed to recover and transfer 3.049M USDC to Coinbase.

Despite these setbacks, Cuban remains a vocal crypto advocate. He champions more favorable regulations for the industry, urging the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) to take the reins. His stance contrasts with the Securities and Exchange Commission, which has favored a regulation-by-enforcement approach.
