Manny Pacquiao’s philanthropic arm, the Manny Pacquiao Foundation (MPF), has joined forces with Shibarium, a Layer 2 blockchain within the Shiba Inu Ecosystem, to bolster its fundraising and operational capabilities.
The California-based nonprofit, led by the boxing legend, seeks to leverage Shibarium to optimize the tracking and management of donations and resources, thereby enhancing transparency in its humanitarian initiatives globally.
Jon Sisson, Executive Director of the Manny Pacquiao Foundation, emphasized that Shibarium’s adoption aligns with their mission to scale operations and extend assistance to millions more individuals.
Shytoshi Kusama, the Lead Developer of Shiba Inu, expressed gratitude for the partnership with the Manny Pacquiao Foundation, emphasizing the significance of incorporating advanced Web 3 technologies into charitable endeavors.
The collaboration marks the foundation’s most extensive venture into blockchain technology. However, it underscores its ongoing commitment to crypto adoption, having accepted SHIB donations since 2021 and collaborating with entities like Binance Charity and the Jack Ma Foundation.
Shibarium, built atop Ethereum, employs the Proof of Participation (POP) mechanism, emphasizing community engagement and environmental sustainability. Positioned within the broader Shiba Inu ecosystem, Shibarium is currently in its beta phase, PUPPYNET 3, aiming to facilitate digital innovation and peer-to-peer transactions with rapid, low-cost transactions.
Manny Pacquiao, renowned not only for his boxing prowess but also for his engagement in the crypto space, previously served as GCOX’s ambassador in 2018, introducing the Pac Token. In 2023, Pacquiao announced the establishment of Pac Pay, his crypto and fintech firm.
The boxer also delved into the non-fungible token (NFT) realm, launching various NFT projects, including the “Pacman the Jack Russell” collection and the Manny Pacquiao NFT (MPNFT) collaboration with Lodi Technologies. Additionally, Pacquiao partnered with GameFi Project Xeno for a blockchain project earlier this year, offering exclusive NFT designs for purchase with stablecoins or credit cards.
