Recent events have revealed that Elon Musk, the CEO of SpaceX, Tesla, and Twitter, has demonstrated conflicting actions regarding artificial intelligence (AI) in recent weeks. After leading an open letter to pause AI development due to potential threats to society, Musk appears to be advancing AI integration within Twitter, according to a recent Business Insider report.

The report discloses that Musk has acquired nearly 10,000 graphics processing units (GPUs) for a Twitter AI project. The information comes from two anonymous insiders, who claim the GPUs will be used to support large-scale AI models on the platform. This news follows a tweet by Musk on March 18, stating that AI would be employed to “identify & expose public opinion manipulation” on Twitter.

Although the project is still in its infancy, the substantial investment in GPUs demonstrates Musk’s dedication to the initiative. One of the unnamed sources mentioned that the project involves a large language model. However, both sources conceded that the specific application of generative AI within Twitter remains uncertain.

This seemingly contradictory move by Musk has raised questions about his true stance on AI development and how it will impact Twitter’s future.

In other words, Australian financial institution Latitude Financial has fallen victim to a significant cyber attack, prompting demands for the government to prohibit cryptocurrency ransom payments. The breach, which was initially disclosed on March 16, resulted in the theft of 7.9 million Australian and New Zealand driver’s license numbers, 6.1 million customer records, 53,000 passport numbers, and 100 customer financial statements.
