Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Crown Prince of Dubai announced Dubai’s official Metaverse Strategy today. Dubai has taken the blockchain and crypto space to a whole new level in the UAE, it seems fitting that the metaverse is next on its vision board.
In detail, the Dubai Metaverse Strategy aims to create a foundation for over 1,000 companies to operate in the metaverse and blockchain sector. In turn, this move will bring a contribution of $500 million to the UAE’s economy.
Additionally, the Dubai Metaverse Strategy aims to increase the number of blockchain and metaverse companies by 5x. With this strategy in place, Dubai is gearing up to become the #1 city in the region in terms of metaverse economy. In the same manner, it is aiming to be one of the top 10 cities on the global scale.
To highlight, the Dubai Metaverse Strategy will support 40,000 virtual jobs in Dubai. Not to mention, this vast growth in the city’s workforce will contribute an addition of $4 billion to the city’s economy in just 5 years.
To deliver the Dubai Metaverse Strategy, Dubai is taking a three-pillar approach. Firstly, it will foster metaverse innovation and economic contribution. Secondly, it will cultivate metaverse talent via education and training.
Thirdly, it will develop metaverse use-cases and push metaverse applications within the Dubai government. Adding on, it will elevate the adoption, scaling, and global advocation of safe platforms in the metaverse arena. Lastly, it will boost infrastructure and metaverse regulation refinement.
