World Liberty Financial (WLFI), a DeFi project associated with the Trump family, executed a major cryptocurrency acquisition today. The project purchased 3,247.3 Ethereum (ETH) tokens at $3,079 per token, spending $10 million USDT. This transaction is part of a calculated effort to diversify its investment portfolio, which now totals $365.5 million in digital assets.
Ethereum Dominates WLFI’s Portfolio
Ethereum remains the centerpiece of WLFI’s strategy, representing 65% of its total cryptocurrency holdings. The project currently holds $182 million worth of Ethereum, solidifying it as WLFI’s largest single asset. Bitcoin follows, accounting for 25% of the portfolio. The remaining 10% is invested across five altcoins such as TRX, AAVE, LINK, and ENA tokens.
The price of ETH has shown volatility recently by dropping from a 2024 peak of $4,106 to a low of $3,024 in January 2025. Despite this, WLFI continues to strengthen its position in Ethereum.
A Pattern of Strategic Acquisitions
The latest Ethereum purchase follows a series of recent transactions by World Liberty Financial. On January 22, 2025, the project acquired 94.94 Wrapped Bitcoin (wBTC) for $9.84 million. Just one day earlier, WLFI spent $2.65 million to purchase 10.81 million TRON (TRX) tokens.
The project made an initial $120 million investment in the cryptocurrency market earlier in January. This included $47 million each in Ethereum and Wrapped Bitcoin. The remaining $26 million was distributed among TRX, AAVE, LINK, and ENA tokens.
WLFI’s Growing Role in Cryptocurrency
The project has invested a total of $275 million across seven cryptocurrencies since it was launched. Its substantial focus on Bitcoin and Ethereum has positioned it as a notable institutional player in the digital asset market. The ongoing acquisitions have bolstered WLFI’s influence in the cryptocurrency sector and increased its total portfolio to $365.5 million.
With these recent investments, WLFI continues to align its portfolio with major digital assets while maintaining diversification with smaller altcoins.
