Trump’s Bitcoin Promises Accused as Scams, Voters Believe the Former US President Will Say Anything for Votes

  • Donald Trump’s sudden change of becoming pro-Bitcoin is suspicious to some voters.
  • One crypto enthusiast reminds the community of how Trump called Bitcoin a scam once.
  • He believes that Trump has only just joined the Bitcoin narrative to sway votes.

Donald Trump, along with other other US Presidential candidates have taken a pro-crypto stance. However, Trump in particular has been known to have called crypto a scam and has now taken an opposite position promising pro-crypto policies once elected.

In detail, the former US President began to show his support for Bitcoin and crypto by accepting crypto and BTC donations for his campaign. Having done so, he immediately saw an influx of crypto donations which led to Biden pleading for donations to match that of Trump.

Despite all his supposed support, one user of the CryptoCurrency thread on Reddit shares their concern over the support Trump is getting from the crypto community. Here the user says that Trump is not better for crypto and goes on to explain why.

He accuses crypto Bitcoin Trump supporters by reminding them that Trump has lied to them before. He has also shown he only supports a cause when it benefits him and his pockets and says just because Trump released AI-generated NFTs doesn’t mean he is pro crypto.

Initially Biden was against allowing crypto progress in the USA. Now, with other candidates rallying support, he too changed his stance. Clearly, the crypto narrative in the USA is a central conversation during this election and the user makes a point that Trump’s campaign team could simply be taking advantage of it.

In the ongoing US Presidential elections, no doubt, crypto has become a deciding factor of whether candidates can pull votes. According to one article, 33% or one-third of US voters are considering the candidates’ stance on crypto before they vote. Knowing this, any crypto conversation from the candidates could easily sway the vote.

One obvious observation to make is that Trump only recently shared his pro-Bitcoin stance right when the US House was trying to pass a bill for fair crypto regulations. Something the country wanted but Biden was against.

Having spoken during this Trump Trump gained more support. Meanwhile, candidates like Robert Kennedy Jr. have been a strong crypto and Bitcoin supporter since long before Trump’s campaign. Kennedy’s pro-Bitcoin policies have also been more clear and pro-USA than any promises Trump has made so far.
