A healthcare technology company, Semler Scientific, has acquired 303 bitcoins for a total of $29.3 million. The strategy was implemented over ten days, from 25 November 2024 to December 4. The company revealed that, on average, it purchased each Bitcoin for $96,779, along with all the other costs.
This latest purchase brings the company’s total holdings to 1,873 Bitcoins, costing it $147.1 million. Semler Scientific continues with acquisitions to fund its focus on using capital market activities to increase its digital asset holdings.
In early November, the company purchased 297 Bitcoins for $29.1 million, increasing its total Bitcoins owned to 1,570 BTC at the time. With the acquisitions made at an average cost of $97,995 per BTC.
ATM Offering Fuels Acquisition Strategy
Semler Scientific’s recent Bitcoin purchases was funded through proceeds from its at-the-market (ATM) offering. In November 2024, the company increased the offering to $100 million by filing a prospectus supplement to its existing registration statement. As of December 4, 2024, the offering had yielded $79.8 million in gross proceeds under a Controlled Equity OfferingSM Sales Agreement managed by Cantor Fitzgerald & Co.
The ATM offering has been integral to Semler Scientific’s Bitcoin acquisition strategy, providing the liquidity needed to execute corporate initiatives while maintaining substantial digital asset reserves. By leveraging the proceeds, the company has ensured implementing its Bitcoin treasury strategy without compromising its operational liquidity.
Bitcoin Yield and Market Dynamics
Semler Scientific has reported strong performance metrics associated with its Bitcoin treasury strategy. From October 1 to December 4, 2024, the company achieved a BTC Yield of 54.7%. Since adopting the strategy in July 2024, its cumulative BTC Yield has reached 78.7%. The BTC Yield is designed to assess returns on Bitcoin investments within the company, thus discussing the business strategy regarding its investments and its orientation to trends and shareholders’ value.
The company aims to increase its Bitcoin investments when the market is more active. On December 4, Bitcoin was up by 7% in the last 24 hours. Bitcoin’s market cap is over $2 trillio,n and its daily volume is past $132 billion.
