- Sky Mavis created the Ethereum sidechain called Ronin.
- Axie Infinity’s Ronin has been tailored to serve as a long-term scalability solution.
- The site will serve as a crucial resource to help understand Ronin’s advantages.
Ronin is an Ethereum sidechain built by Sky Mavis, the developers of Axie Infinity. It supports EVM-compatible smart contracts and protocols so that developers are able to build high-performance, feature-rich blockchain projects. Ronin was specifically customized to be a long-term scaling solution for Axie Infinity, meaning it’s optimized to enable virality and to provide global access to the blockchain gaming revolution. These aspects make Ronin a natural fit for collectibles, art, and, of course, gaming.
In its current state, Ronin is a Byzantine Fault Tolerant proof of authority (POA) network operated by validators. At the bootstrap of the network, carefully selected, trusted validators were predefined to secure the network. Now, validators can be added or removed if the decision is approved by the majority of currently active validators.
The network has unveiled a new website where developers can learn about Ronin’s special advantages and how to begin developing with them.
“In order to double down on Ronin’s momentum, we are onboarding the next generation of world-class Web3 gaming and consumer application developers.” a tweet insisted.

Additionally, Web3 will help ensure that the next evolution of the internet empowers users with actual ownership of their money, data, and game assets.
Other network changes include a move from Ronin consensus to dPOS, which will enable total decentralization and let nodes freely join the network as candidate validators or miners. Since dPOS is based on an established reputation as an ethical stake rather than overall wealth, it is a more democratic method of selecting who verifies the following block.
