Joel Zimmerman, the Canadian electronic dance music (EDM) sensation otherwise known as Deadmau5, teased the launching of his latest single titled Apnea on July 24. Interestingly, he will drop his single on LimeWire instead of other popular platforms like Spotify.

For those who have no inkling about LimeWire, it was one of the most popular file torrenting services in league with BitTorrent and The Pirate Bay. Now, however, LimeWire has relaunched into a blockchain-based creator platform that uses a crypto token of the same name — it appropriately has the ticker LMWR.

According to LimeWire, Deadmau5’s upcoming single is the first drop eligible for ad-revenue sharing in LMWR tokens.

Deadmau5 fans and crypto supporters alike can subscribe to the EDM artist on LimeWire for free and earn LMWR tokens, as per LimeWire’s Twitter thread.

LimeWire’s public token sale amassed around $18 million in less than a month. This may be due to its popularity as a former torrenting site. The token was initially sold between $0.20 and $0.3, although its initial exchange listings saw the price soar to $0.60. At the time of writing, LMWR is changing hands at $0.074, according to CoinGecko.
