Pokémon, the global sensation that became an indelible part of the childhood of many millennials and Gen Z’s today, may possibly move to the Metaverse.
Read CRYPTONEWSLAND onThis was at least sparked by a job listing reported by Decrypt in an article. According to the news, The Pokémon Company is looking for a Corporate Development Principal who has “deep knowledge” of Web3 including blockchain technology, NFT, and the metaverse.
Specifically, the job listing said, “Deep knowledge and understanding of Web 3, including blockchain technologies and NFT, and/or metaverse;” and “Deeply connected to a network of investors and entrepreneurs in the technology sectors above (Web3 and metaverse).”
The news was picked up instantly by many people, including those who have been supporting leading Web3 games like Axie Infinity. Someone even suggested that this could be a “new competition” for the Web3 gaming frontrunner.
However, there is no guarantee that The Pokémon Company will move the beloved regions of Kanto and Johto — names that bring back tear-jerking nostalgia — to the Metaverse anytime soon.
For those who are not updated with the latest adventures of Ash Ketchum and Pikachu, the Pokémon realm now includes newer regions like Hoenn, Sinnoh, Unova, Kalos, Alola, Hisui, and Paldea.
