  2. The hacker moved funds into Tornado Cash.
  3. PeckShield noted hacker’s transfer after $1M bounty offered.

In a surprising twist, the hacker behind the Euler Finance attack showed a softer side by returning 100 $ETH $ 1,802.53 3.30% to a victim who pleaded for the return of their life savings. However, the hacker’s actions remain questionable, as they have begun to move funds into the crypto mixer Tornado Cash.

PeckShield, a blockchain analytics firm, tweeted on March 16 that the exploiter responsible for the Ethereum noncustodial lending protocol flash loan attack was moving. The hacker transferred 1,000 Ether, equivalent to $1.65 million, through the sanctioned crypto mixer.

The timing of the transfer is particularly notable since it was made just hours after a $1 million bounty was offered to uncover the hacker’s identity. Euler Finance is determined to recover the stolen funds and has enlisted the help of blockchain intelligence platforms, law enforcement, and the Ethereum community to track down the attacker.

Despite the hacker’s brief moment of kindness, their actions remain criminal, and Euler Finance is taking the attack seriously. The noncustodial lending platform is doing everything in its power to catch the hacker and recover the stolen funds.
