Gate.io has dismissed rumors of a hack following claims that prompted users to withdraw funds from the exchange. The exchange’s Chief Business Officer, Kevin Lee, confirmed all funds are secure, and operations remain unaffected. 

Gate.io’s official statement highlighted that its security team found no issues. The external agencies have also reported no irregularities. Kevin Lee reassured users via X, stating deposits, withdrawals, and trading activities are functioning normally. Furthermore, Lee has encouraged users not to believe the recurring rumors, which he stated lacked any credible evidence. The exchange reaffirmed that its reserves exceed $10 billion, ensuring complete financial stability.  

Withdrawals Amid False Claims 

Despite the reassurances, rumors led to a surge in withdrawals as users moved funds out of Gate.io. However, the exchange confirmed that its operations continued without disruption. Gate.io emphasized its position as a financially stable exchange with full reserves, capable of meeting user demands during periods of high withdrawals. Furthermore, Kevin Lee announced plans to address the unfounded rumors in a live session on X. This aims to provide clarity to the exchange’s users.  

GateToken (GT) Price Recovery Reflects Market Trust 

The rumors briefly caused GateToken (GT) to dip by 3.8%, reaching a low of $11.91  at the time of writing. However, GT quickly rebounded by 8%, trading at $13.68. The trading volume of GT surged by 60% within 24 hours, signaling increased trader confidence in the exchange’s stability. Market data from Arkham confirmed that no abnormalities occurred, supporting Gate.io’s claims of robust security. Despite all these, the recovery of GT’s price highlights the resilience of the token and the trust of its investor base in Gate.io.  

Community Criticism Against False Claims 

The crypto community criticized the recurring spread of baseless hack rumors targeting Gate.io. The claims were linked to individuals, including naniXBT. Many users called for accountability and raised concerns over the negative impact of misinformation on the industry. False reports continue to pose challenges for exchanges striving to maintain user trust.
