Despite the dying fanfare in the crypto community for donations directed to Ukraine, Crypto.com announced that it will be launching a special donation drive in partnership with the International Committee of the Red Cross.
According to a Twitter post by CEO Kris Marszalek, Crypto.com will match donations for Ukraine. Details of its donation campaign will be announced during the crypto exchange’s airtime at the Oscars 2022, where it is a sponsor.
Marszalek added in another tweet that the crypto community has become united in showcasing “who we are”. Specifically, he said:
“Throughout this tragedy, the entire cryptocurrency community has come together to show the world who we are, our values, and the importance of what we’re building.”
At the spark of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, the crypto community has been adamant in supporting the latter by providing resources. While there are no official estimates regarding the total amount of crypto given to Ukraine, various sources say the figure has exceeded $100 million.
The embattled country also partnered with exchange competitor FTX to launch Aid for Ukraine, a platform that accepts crypto donations and converts them into fiat. The platform will then transfer the amount to the National Bank of Ukraine.
