The Indian crypto exchange CoinDCX’s official Twitter account was compromised. The hackers attempted to exploit the crypto exchange’s followers by posting a phishing link along with fake Ripple (XRP) giveaways.
Read CRYPTONEWSLAND onIn the image shared by the tweet of user PeckShieldAlert, the hackers promised 100 million worth of XRP giveaways to support their “community.” To make them look trustworthy, the exploiter also retweeted the official posts of Ripple Labs CEO Brad Garlinghouse and reply to other tweets along with the phishing links.
The malicious links posted on the exchange’s account are designed to steal the personal, financial, or account information of the users. By clicking the link, users will be at risk of losing their assets from the exploiter’s plot. Losses may have been terrible as CoinDCX’s official Twitter account presently has more than 230,000 followers, with each follower might have a wallet connected to the exchange.
Acknowledging the attack, the exchange’s team immediately warned its users and followers about the exploit and deleted most of the scam tweets. The team notified its users not to click any links or messages from CoinDCX Twitter account.
Furthermore, CoinDCX’s team said they’re working on retrieving the account and will give an update to its followers once it’s safe.
