CESS Readies Introduction of Powerful Network and Platform Enhancements With the Release of Latest Testnet Update

Singapore, September 1 2023: Cumulus Encrypted Storage System (CESS), the innovative 3rd-gen decentralized cloud-based data storage protocol built exclusively for Web3, has announced the release of the 9th version of its testnet on August 31. Currently, the most active testnet has reached an amazing 6,300 deployed nodes. With the introduction of many new and powerful features, CESS is cementing its position as an industry leader in the cloud-based decentralized storage space and a favorite for Web3-native applications and needs.

Important Upgrades and Optimizations

One of the most important new capabilities in testnet v0.7.0 is the introduction of Proof of Idle Space (PoIS), a new approach to filling idle space that significantly improves authentication speeds for idle space. A snapshot verification process for Proof of Data Reduplication and Recovery (PoDR²) will also be included, which will help CESS resolve issues pertaining to storage nodes that submit only partial proof for active data. With the snapshot verification process, these nodes can now pass validation.

Other upgrades include enhanced message transmission stability, upgrades to the CESS P2P module, and the introduction of a customer experience improvement plan.

In terms of optimizations, CESS’s Decentralized Object Storage Service (DeOSS) authorization functionality will be adjusted to support the authorization of multiple DeOSS gateways simultaneously. This significantly enhances the flexibility and scope of gateway operations. In other areas, platform optimizations will ensure that whitelisted and registered nodes have no duplicates, and time limits for challenging validation periods for specific nodes to prevent process delays have also been increased.

New Reward Rules in the Latest Testnet

In testnet v0.7.0, storage miners share 8,000 points in total (equivalent to 800,000 CESS tokens), with each miner earning points based on the percentage of the miner’s contributed power out of the network’s total storage power.

Consensus miner rewards are yet to be announced, but administrators of the CESS Telegram group can be contacted for additional information on consensus mining.

Additional information can be found in the CESS Account Manual, the CESS Storage Node Manual, the Consensus Node Manual, and the DeOSS Documentation. Finally, the CESS DAPPs Deployment Manual also contains important information for users and miners.

CESS Co-Founder and COO Jesse Dai hailed the release of the new testnet: “With Testnet v0.7.0, we are bringing more effective storage tools and services to developers and enterprises around the world. Testnet v0.7.0’s new capabilities and functionalities will help developers build and deploy DApps on CESS much more quickly, efficiently, and easily, and we are thriving in our mission to position CESS as the go-to network for efficiently processing the massive data storage and sharing requirements of today’s commercial-grade Web3 applications.”

Marketing Manager John Humphreys also commented on CESS-v0.7.0 by saying: “Our dev teams have been hard at work to build and deploy the capabilities needed most by our users. With Proof of Idle Space, Proof of Data Reduplication and Recovery (PoDR²), enhanced DeOSS and revised rewards, CESS is consistently improving storage space utilization, expediting the ease and speed of authentication, making it easier and fairer for nodes to participate and operate on the network. We are also actively working toward delivering enhanced customer experiences. Together, these improvements will deliver more storage security, flexibility, performance and scalability – all of which are must-haves to operate in today’s rapidly evolving and maturing Web3 world.”

Faster access to data, better system availability, industry-leading storage costs, lightning-fast uploads and retrieval and cryptographically secure and efficient storage proofs are some of CESS’s most prominent value propositions. With an effective DApp ecosystem, better user experiences, streamlined user and partner onboarding and control of data going back to users to empower them with security and new value creation opportunities that are backed by CESS’s computational proofs, data reduplication, guaranteed recovery, streamlined flows, and unmatched availability, new enterprises are flocking to CESS for their data storage, processing and management needs.

About CESS

Cumulus Encrypted Storage System (CESS) is the 3rd-gen decentralized cloud-based data storage protocol built exclusively for Web3. CESS is optimized for processing high-frequency dynamic data, enabling real-time data sharing while safeguarding its users’ data ownership, privacy, and assets. It provides multiple encrypted copies that are sliced and dispersed across global nodes, eliminating single-point failures, data leaks, and slow retrieval. The platform is fully decentralized, provides robust data recovery guarantees, and comes with guaranteed data ownership and traceability. Safe data and asset sharing, protected data transfers, permissions, and royalties, and fast data retrieval are also part of the CESS value proposition.

CESS supports a wide range of rich use cases, such as customized network drives, frontend support, decentralized streaming and social media, decentralized data marketplaces, user-generated content platforms, and blockchain data backup hubs, helping to build a diverse and robust ecosystem where transactions are secured by encryption and data ownership is returned to their rightful owners.
