- Binance Charity pledges $3 million in BNB to aid Morocco earthquake victims.
- Users with Proof of Address in the affected region qualify for aid.
- Binance leverages crypto for rapid, transparent aid distribution.
In a humanitarian response to the recent devastating earthquake in Morocco, Binance Charity has announced a substantial aid effort. They will airdrop up to $3 million in BNB (Binance Coin) to Binance users residing in the earthquake-affected regions.
The primary criterion for identifying eligible users is Proof of Address (POA) verification completed before September 9, 2023, in the hardest-hit Marrakesh-Safi Province. Each of these users will receive $100 in BNB, directly into their Binance accounts.
Recognizing that some affected users may not have completed POA verification by the initial deadline, Binance Charity will also provide $25 in BNB to any existing user who completes the POA process between September 9 and September 30, 2023.
Additionally, active transacting Binance users throughout Morocco who are not in the earthquake-affected area will receive an airdrop of $10 in BNB each.
Approximately 70,000 Binance users in Morocco are expected to benefit from these relief efforts, with the distribution of funds commencing on September 12, 2023.
Traditional banking services often become inaccessible to disaster victims when they need funds urgently for essentials like medical supplies and food. Crypto transfers offer a solution, enabling fast, cost-effective, borderless, and transparent transactions.
Changpeng Zhao (CZ), the Founder and CEO of Binance, expresses his concern for the Moroccan people affected by the earthquake and the hope that Binance’s support would alleviate some of the hardship.
In detail, he urged Moroccan users who receive these donations but remain unaffected by the earthquake to consider passing on the funds to those most in need.
Furthermore, Binance Charity has established a public donation address for contributions in various cryptos. To specify, these include BNB, BTC, ETH, USDC, USDT, and BUSD. The total amount collected will be donated to an authorized NGO, to be announced shortly, in order to provide further assistance to those in need during this emergency.
The official notice ends with a heartfelt message. During these challenging times, Binance vows its commitment to standing by its users and exploring additional ways to support the Moroccan community.
