Apple Accused of Copyright Breach by Alleged Bitcoin Creator

Craig Wright, the contentious computer scientist who claims to be the creator of Bitcoin, has now taken aim at Apple, insinuating that the tech giant is breaching copyright laws. The accusation comes after it was discovered that the Bitcoin white paper was stored on Apple computers without the knowledge of many Mac users.

The Australian computer scientist and lawyer has been in the limelight for years for asserting that he is the enigmatic Satoshi Nakamoto, the pseudonymous individual or group responsible for creating Bitcoin. Wright has insisted that any offshoots of the digital currency are infringing upon his intellectual property rights, as he is the mastermind behind the original blockchain concept.

The controversy was reignited on Friday when Wright responded affirmatively to a Twitter user asking if Apple was “in breach of copyright” for having the Bitcoin white paper stored on its machines. However, Wright has been widely criticized for not providing substantial evidence to back his claims of being the cryptocurrency’s creator. 

To prove his identity as Satoshi Nakamoto, he would need to present the private keys to Satoshi’s Bitcoin address. Until then, his accusations against Apple and other entities remain a matter of debate.

In other news, crypto-friendly Congressman Tom Emmer has accused U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) chairman Gary Gensler of acting in poor faith with regard to cryptocurrency regulation. During Emmer’s April 7 appearance on the Unchained podcast, hosted by renowned author and crypto journalist Laura Shin, the revelations were made.
