Southampton Football Club announced that it has extended its partnership with Coingaming Group as a main club partner. With this, players within the organization will be able to receive bonuses in Bitcoin.
These crypto-based bonuses will be paid to the players based on their performance at the end of each season.
Coingaming Group operates Sportsbet.io, which is the brand that is seen at the front of the club’s shirt. They have been in partnership with the said Premier League club since August 2020, and will extend for another three years.
Southampton Chief Commercial Officer David Thomas remarked:
“The team at Sportsbet.io have built a successful business by challenging convention and disrupting the market, but in a responsible way, and their approach to our partnership with them has been no different.”
During a match between Southampton and Burnley, Sportsbet.io donated its shirt sponsorship to the Saints Foundation for the latter’s COVID-19 fundraising.
