Garanti BBVA Kripto is partnering with Ripple and IBM to bolster the security and performance of its crypto trading platform. This move follows a successful pilot in 2023, marking the rollout of Ripple Custody and IBM’s institutional-grade key management infrastructure to all Garanti BBVA Kripto customers. The collaboration ensures that users enjoy a secure, high-performance platform, which is critical for the growing demand in Türkiye’s crypto asset market.
Secure Crypto Custody Collaboration
The partnership between Garanti BBVA Kripto, Ripple, and IBM is focused on enhancing security standards for digital asset management. Ripple Custody’s secure infrastructure, combined with IBM’s advanced security capabilities, offers Garanti BBVA Kripto a trusted and robust environment. The bank, serving over 14,000 users, now leverages this combined solution to protect private keys, applications, and data.
Moreover, IBM’s infrastructure, built on IBM® LinuxONE, provides end-to-end encryption and isolation of customer environments. This setup also features embedded Hardware Security Modules (HSMs), which hold the highest security certification. Additionally, the collaboration allows Garanti BBVA Kripto to mitigate potential risks, thanks to a comprehensive governance framework that eliminates single points of compromise.
Meeting Growing Crypto Demand
Garanti BBVA Kripto’s CEO, Korcan Abalı, emphasized the growing demand for digital assets. The platform currently supports BTC, ETH, USDC, AVAX, CHZ, XRP, ARB, and SOL. He stated, “Our customer base for transferring and storing crypto assets is growing daily.” Besides expanding asset diversity, the platform plans to scale its service infrastructure, driven by increasing interest in secure digital asset custody.
IBM Türkiye’s General Manager, Işıl Kılınç Gürtuna, reiterated the importance of security in digital asset management. IBM’s custody solutions ensure compliance with regulatory standards, providing Garanti BBVA Kripto with a sustainable environment for secure digital asset transactions.
