50K Axies Burned After Axie Infinity Launches Lunacian Express

Axie Infinity launched its new Axie burn feature.
The feature will enable Axie owners to release their pet for good in exchange for limited-edition Land items.
At the time of writing, more than 50,000 Axies have been burned.

Axie Infinity recently introduced its new burn feature named Lunacian Express. The new feature will allow Axie owners to release their Axies “on a journey” to Lunacia, the virtual land of the game. In return, their Axie will retrieve a gift for them.

The Axie community participated proactively in the event. In less than 1 day, more than 50,000 Axies have been released for good from more than 20,000 participants.

To be clear, once an Axie has been released, it will not come back anymore. The event functions like a regular token burn. However, Axie owners who participate in the burning event can receive something else in return: limited-edition land gameplay items.

Each Axie released will be equivalent to one seasonal Land cosmetic. Current Axie Land cosmetics are themed after the Chinese Lunar New Year. specifically, these are Assorted Firecrackers, Traditional Snack Box, Blossom Tree, Lucky Lantern, and the mystic item Crimson Tiger.

Moreover, each burn will make the previous Axie owner to be eligible for a raffle, which will occur toward the end of the event. Prizes up for grabs include 5 Axie Origin Coin (AOC) tokens, Kitsune Mystic Land Items, and CoinGecko or Ganbaru CrypTon Epic Land Items.
