In detail, Samsung has begun production of its chip capable of greater Bitcoin mining power. Specifically, the chip production is using 3nm process technology with GAA architecture. The chip will offer greater performance than it did before.

For instance, the optimized 3nm process chip will bring 45% reduced power usage whilst delivering 23% improved performance. In addition, it also ensures a 16% smaller surface area in comparison to the 5nm process node.

To highlight, Samsung Electronics says the 3 nanometer chip process node will apply Gate-All-Around (GAA) transistor architecture. With the GAA technology implementation, it will defy the performance limitations of FinFET.

Thus, it enables a Multi-Bridge-Channel FET (MBCFET). In turn, this will boost power efficiency by reducing the supply of voltage level. On the other hand, it will enhance performance by raising the drive current capability.

The President and Head of Foundry Business at Samsung Electronics — Dr. Siyoung Choi shares Samsung’s voice. Choi draws light to how quickly Samsung grew and then adds how Samsung will continue to demonstrate leadership in applying next-gen tech to manufacturing.

We will continue active innovation in competitive technology development and build processes that help expedite achieving maturity of technology.

Suffice to say, Samsung is a leading player in the smartphone industry. By creating  a chip that optimizes Bitcoin mining, Samsung continues to keep its lead. We shall simply have to wait and see what they will come up with next to keep pace with emerging competition such as Solana’s web3 smartphone.
