National Geographic to Launch Its NFT on Snowcrash

National Geographic is launching its genesis NFT collection.
The collection is composed of sixteen images depicting the break of dawn.
As part of commemorating National Geographic’s 135th anniversary, the collection will include 1888 NFTs.

In conjunction with web3 studio and NFT platform Snowcrash, National Geographic is launching its genesis NFT collection. The series of NFTs will allegedly be minted on Polygon, and the price of each NFT will be 215 MATIC.

In addition, the collection is composed of sixteen images, each of which depicts the breaking of dawn in various locations throughout the globe.

Every single one of these pictures is to be shot by photographers or digital artists contracted by National Geographic. On the list are names such as Justin Aversano, Jimmy Chin, Delphine Diallo, Yagazie Emezi, Mia Forrest, and Kris Graves.

Notably, “GM: Daybreak Around the World,” is the title of the NFT collection which will release on January 17, 2023.

As its name suggests, this numbered series focuses on a number of different locations that were photographed just before dawn.

In addition, as part of the festivities commemorating National Geographic’s 135th anniversary, the collection will include 1888 NFTs, marking the year in which the magazine was first published.

The collection includes some breathtaking images that were taken everywhere from the coasts of Byron Bay, Australia, and coastal Oregon to the summit of Mount Everest. There’s even a crack of dawn in the metaverse, taken by Aaron Huey.

In essence, each artist is conveying an original narrative via the images that they create. While some explored the standard documentary picture route, others investigated the narrative possibilities given by the topic.

National Geographic is taking its rich history that spans more than a century into the realm of Web3 with the launch of its first NFT collection. This is the most recent attempt made by it to cultivate its creative community, while also exploring new avenues of narrative expression.
