- Bitcoin enables people in Afghanistan to send money seamlessly
- BTC has become one of the primary modes of payment in the country
Bitcoin played a vital role in the challenging event that the country of Afghanistan is currently facing. Specifically, Bitcoin provides an efficient way for people in Afghanistan to spend and transfer their money seamlessly. Furthermore, Bitcoin also brings hope to the people in the country that do not have a bank account.
In an interview with the Thomson Reuters Foundation, Mahboob, a founder of the non-profit Digital Citizen Fund explained:
“It wasn’t feasible – or safe – to send cash to everyone, but mobile money wasn’t used as widely, and options like PayPal didn’t exist. Then we heard about bitcoin.”
Mahboob added that Bitcoin enables them to transact payments in a safer and easier way. “It was easy to use, cheaper and more secure than other options. So we taught the girls how to use it and began to pay our staff and contributors with it – we told them it was an investment for the future,” she said.
On the other hand, this is not the first time that the technology of Bitcoin has been recognized. The country of El Salvador is a very good example of a country that embraces the technology of Bitcoin. At the time of writing, Bitcoin trades at a bullish price of over $57k per crypto.
