- Adidas revealed its partnership with Ready Player Me.
- The collaboration will develop a personality-based AI-generated avatar creation platform.
- The platform will launch on April 8. The first installment of the avatars will be on April 28.
On Tuesday, Adidas announced its partnership with Ready Player Me to develop a personality-based AI-generated avatar creation platform. This is linked to Adidas Originals’ Ozworld shoe collection.
Adidas shared a teaser on Twitter that shows the corporation’s continuous interest in the metaverse and non-fungible token (NFT) collectibles.
Ready Player Me is a cross-game avatar platform particularly designed for the metaverse. Currently, over 1,900 games and apps integrate the said platform. Specifically, the company’s technology allows users to create their own avatar and explore virtual worlds in metaverse on a single identity. With Adidas and Ready Player Me partnership, fans will be able to create avatars that make use of the Adidas Ozworld brand.
Adidas said in a statement:
Each unique avatar will be able to traverse the web through a bespoke partnership with Ready Player Me. This is the first brand partnership that pushes the limits of the platform – offering interoperability in generative avatars with over 1,500 different metaverse apps and games.
Adidas has been experimenting with several projects. Specifically, these include the company’s partnership with different firms related to NFT in the past. Moreover, in November 2021, the company announced its partnership with Coinbase and the Sandbox to launch “Adi-verse.”
In December 2021, Adidas also reportedly collaborated with Bored Ape Yacht Club, Punks Comics, and Gmoney to launch an NFT collection. The NFT collection created by Adidas Originals has been a top NFT project in terms of sales volume last January.
The sneaker giant launched the personality-based AI-generated avatar creation platform on April 8. Adidas NFT holders and Adiclub members will also have advanced entry to the metaverse. In addition, on April 28, the first installment of the avatars will launch.
